Pilot areas

During the project, sustainable urban stormwater systems will be built in Viimsi municipality to demonstrate how such solutions improve the urban space due to their being more attractive and more flexible in adapting to climate changes than standard piping solutions.

Up to now, Estonian municipalities and water management companies have had virtually no experience in the construction and maintenance of sustainable urban stormwater management solutions. Thorough system planning, analysis of sample areas and subsequent monitoring will be used within the project create solutions demonstrating the best practices of stormwater management systems, which can be set as an example for municipalities all over Estonia.
